We work hard to produce healthy, happy, and properly bonded Livestock Guardian Dogs. Our breeding pair includes a 100% Akbash male and a female that is 50% Akbash and 50% Anatolian Shepherd, both ancient breeds known for their ability to protect livestock. These breeds are specifically chosen for their natural protective instincts and their ability to bond with livestock such as sheep, goats, and poultry.
Our dogs are raised with the highest standards in mind. The breeding female has one litter per year, and the puppies are born and raised on pasture full-time. From a very young age, they are exposed to a variety of animals, including sheep, chickens, goats, and cattle, which helps them develop the skills needed to protect your farm effectively.
Socialization and Training from Day One
At The River Family Farms, we understand the importance of early socialization for our Livestock Guardian Dogs. While these dogs are primarily raised to protect livestock and have a strong bond with their charges, they are socialized enough to interact with humans when necessary.
